About

A METHODOLOGY, NOT A PRODUCT.

The Negotiation Initiative was built around a single conviction: that most organisations are negotiating at a fraction of their potential — and that this is fixable.

Why The Negotiation Initiative exists.

Commercial negotiation is one of the most consequential activities in any organisation. It determines margin, shapes relationships and defines the terms on which business gets done. And yet most organisations treat it as a skill that people either have or they don't — rather than a capability that can be systematically developed.

The Negotiation Initiative was founded to change that. Not by delivering generic training, but by building a genuine methodology — one grounded in decades of practice at the highest levels of commercial negotiation, and designed to create lasting change in how organisations think and behave.

What makes TNI different.

Practitioner-led

Every piece of TNI work is led by Mark Davis — not delegated to associates or delivered from a slide deck. The thinking is his. The challenge is real.

Methodology-grounded

TNI work is built around a coherent, proprietary methodology — the O.R.A. framework, the Five Fundamentals, the Climate Control model. Not a collection of tips.

Commercially contextualised

TNI does not deliver off-the-shelf programmes. Every engagement is designed around the specific commercial context of the client — their industry, their counterparties, their challenges.

The TNI approach.

The Negotiation Initiative works across four areas: developing negotiation capability in commercial teams, advising on live high-stakes negotiations, helping organisations navigate complex multi-party situations, and speaking at leadership events and conferences.

In every case, the starting point is the same: a rigorous diagnostic of the current situation — what is actually happening, what the gaps are, and what needs to change. What follows is built around that.
